What about...[It has to be a public place. It would be improper to meet for the first time, unchaperoned, in his rooms, or hers. It's a shame there's not a nice tea shop on board.]...the library? Or we can meet in front of the pub if you prefer, although its a bit early for libations. I try not imbibe before lunchtime, but I suppose a soda could be provided instead.

Of course, Miss Lua! And once we're finished in the pub we can walk the deck if you like. It's a splendid view, absolutely corking.

Oh, I beg your pardon, miss. Bertram Wilberforce Wooster, at your service. But you can call me Bertie.

[let's pretend there was a response there; what definitely did happen is she's at the stairs from the deck to +1 about forty minutes later. Hopefully she's not late, but she did have to get ready. First impressions are so important, and most guys almost expect that from a girl. Her eyes light just a little when she sees him, whether he'd made it there first or her, and she looks at him apologetically.] Hope I made it all right.

[Bertie's waiting for her when she arrives, but he hasn't been waiting long. When she approaches, he wonders if he should kiss her hand. Some modern women will smack you if you kiss their hand, while others insist upon it and get huffy if you don't immediately jump to it. She doesn't look like the smacking sort, but all the same he decides to play it safe and merely tips his hat to her when she arrives and waits for her to give some sort of signal on whether anything else was needed.]

What ho again, Miss Lua. Yes, you made it fine. Right on time, in fact. [Although for Bertie, whenever she'd arrived would have been "right on time." Punctuality is not one of his concerns.]

[Lua works with whatever someone gives her, and since she doesn't quite know what to expect from him yet, she just smiles at him like she's glad to have someone around who knows what he's doing. Not at all like her. And honestly? She doesn't understand why him, suddenly, or if she's done anything that would make her need to get switched... but she'll think about that after they're done.] That's good. It's a pleasure to meet you.

[He opens the door to the pub and offers her his arm to lead her in.]

Shall I pop off to fetch you a drink?

[She takes his arm a little hesitantly, like a girl might for someone she wants to know better, but isn't sure she does well enough. She looks down, but still in Bertie's direction, and follows him in.] Oh, you don't...

Never say yes at first, but never say no, either.]

From:

Oh, it's no trouble at all. [And as he speaks he tries to walk off to fetch said drink...and doesn't get more than five feet before he's turning around in a circle back to her. He looks around, confused, because he was *sure* he was walking to the bar, and yet somehow he ended up walking away and then back instead.]

Well. That's odd. [He tries again, and again just walks in a circle.]

I'm sorry, miss. Something dashed peculiar is going on. I try to walk to thither and yet somehow I always seem to end up hither.

[She watches him leave as she stands at one of the tall tables, but he somehow can't get very far. Is something wrong with him? She can't entirely hide how confused she is, but looks up at Bertie like there's nothing to be sorry for.] Maybe... [...but not even two steps away and she's back where she was.]

I say, this is a rum stitch. However will I get you your drink now? [He has not thought ahead to other, more pressing problems yet.]

From:

[She doesn't know if he's being polite or foolish, but smiles at him like he'll get them out of this somehow, even if not at that moment.] It's all right.

Er...this Lua filly...she popped up on my warden item.

So sorry. This whatsits must be malfunctioning then, because it clearly states that Miss Lua is indeed my inmate.

Of course not! This Wooster is a preux chevalier and such a thing wouldn't be at all preux. Lua and I are just friends. [They've met once, so now they are friends. This is how Bertie works.]
